Volunteering at the Iowa City Public Library

Volunteer Program LogoIt is a privilege to be able to observe the willingness of our patrons to dedicate their time and energy to make a difference in the community and in Library operations.  For over 30 years volunteers have been a valued resource.  We love our volunteers!

The Library is always accepting volunteer applications.  Our needs vary throughout the year, but right now we are specifically looking for volunteers to help check in Library materials, work at The Book End used bookstore, and assist with the Library’s CoderDojo program.  We also always have openings for volunteers to straighten shelves and help clean audiovisual collections.

Young Adults (Grade 7 and up) and Adults are eligible to participate in the Volunteer Program.  Please follow this link for more information about ICPL’s Volunteer Program and for a volunteer application:  http://www.icpl.org/work/.

If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the application so we can see if there are any volunteer positions that work with your availability.  Return all applications to Volunteer Assistant, 123 S. Linn St, Iowa City, IA 52240.

We have a WONDERFUL group of volunteers at the Library. From 8th graders who volunteer four hours for a class assignment to volunteers who have been with us for many years, all make a tremendous difference in Library operations. Thank you!
