Give Your Year End Gift Today

by Patty McCarthy on December 28th, 2016

Your financial donations have a big impact here at ICPL. One of the most exciting in a few years, the new ICPL bookmobile, will hit the streets in spring 2017 to help ensure even more people have access to Library magic. Your past donations made this possible.

When you contribute, you are providing more to read, watch, listen to, dance to, think about, laugh about, and take action on in a great space that brings you together with new people, ideas, and experiences.

Give your tax-deductible gift to the Iowa City Public Library Friends Foundation Annual Fund before or on December 31 to strengthen ICPL services for another year.

Thank you. We extend best wishes for a marvelous 2017 to all of you!

Give to ICPLFF on Giving Tuesday

by Patty McCarthy on November 30th, 2015

Giving Tuesday is December 1 — a day dedicated to giving to the Iowa City Public Library Friends Foundation and other nonprofit organizations. Your financial contribution to the ICPL Friends Foundation on #GivingTuesday will add more for everyone to read, listen to, watch, learn from, and enjoy through the Library. It’s easy to join the movement with a donation to the Iowa City Public Library Friends Foundation.Gifts2Read

Whether $25 or $500, your charitable gift will make a difference which will make you feel great. A gift of $25 means two more children’s picture books, while $50 will bring children five new hardcover books or ten paperbacks to read. Giving $250 adds two more albums to the online Local Music Project, or puts 15 new fiction books on the shelves.

Thank you for supporting ICPL on Giving Tuesday! Your gift will be acknowledged by those of us in the ICPL Development Office.

All donations made on Giving Tuesday or before December 31, 2015 are charitable contributions which are tax deductible as allowed by law.

Gifts to Read

Surprise!

by Patty McCarthy on April 4th, 2014

Retish donation

Brothers Walter and Clyde Retish love reading, love libraries, and love their grandparents.  So when the boys were here to visit Paul and Esther Retish, it made sense for them to stop by the Iowa City Public Library to get some books before taking grandma home after her volunteer shift at The BookEnd.

“My grandpa and grandma travel a lot, they go to many places around the world,” Walter, 11, says.

They usually bring back foreign money, which their grandsons took to the bank and cashed, walking out with $66.67.

On Wednesday, Walter and Clyde also visited us in the Development Office of the Iowa City Public Library to make a $66 donation. The 67-cents went in the donation box at The BookEnd.

Walter and Clyde’s presentation was a great surprise.  I assured them that yes, we could use the gift to buy several more of the Young Adult books they love reading, and thanked them.   Their generosity made my day.
